Phase II of the ACE Trail now complete.
October 2017 Update
Construction of the parking lot has been delayed. However, efforts to secure funds remain positive with expectations that its construction would be able to be completed within the next 6 months.
A planned event is proposed for March 2018. It would officially open the Trail with a foot race. Also, the Trail has new signage which we hope will attract more attention to its location. We are also working to obtain additional signage around the Walterboro area. Phase II funding is being sought which would open the Trail from Clover Hill Road to Cyrus Lane. News on that funding will not be known until next summer.
Be on lookout for posters around Walterboro to help spread the word about the new Trail!
July 2017: Update on the ACE Trail
Construction of the Trail is complete. Development of the trailhead (parking lot and shelter) is planned to be started in August. The Trail’s grand opening will be later this summer and inaugurated with a foot race hosted by the Friends! More details will be provided soon. A portion of Phase II is being planned but no funding in place at this time.
